The following is the official details for the revision of paper 1 or 2.
Due date: turn the revision in at the final (on Tuesday, April 20, 2010). You may turn it in earlier if you wish.
You may choose to revise ONE paper — either Argument 1 OR Argument 2. The new grade will replace the previous score. (Please note the different point values on the syllabus. For example, you could regain more points by revising a 76% on Argument 2 than revising a 75% on Argument 1.)
Use the notes that I provided on your paper as a starting ground for revision. However, following the notes I wrote on your paper may only be enough to raise your paper a partial letter grade; in the notes I attempted to address the largest problems. In addition to the notes on your paper, you should consider revising for other things we’ve discussed in class (i.e. style, cohesion, counterarguments), taking your paper to the writing center, having other classmates read it, etc.
Also, you are required to meet with me if you would like to take the revision option. You can either meet with me before you revise, or at some point during the revision process. I can discuss my revision notes or read the whole paper (or parts of it). Please set up an appointment with me. Put the date of your meeting with me on the revision paper to remind me of when we met.
Finally, when you turn in the revision you must also turn in the original paper. For the revised version you should use a highlighter to mark what you’ve changed (you can simply mark with the highlighter in the margin so I can easily see where and what you modified). I will bring an example of this to class on the 7th and the 12th so you can see what it looks like.
